Things just aren’t working out for Disney and its properties lately, and now fans are speculating that “General Hospital” is purposely being sabotaged.

A week after Jackie Zamen’s passing, Kin Shriner took to Twitter to announce that his character, Scott Baldwin, is being written off the show.

This surprised many, especially his fans given the strong following he has and the years of bringing Scott to life in so many awesome ways.

He didn’t go into any detail about why his time with “General Hospital” Spoilers ended, but he made sure to thank the fans.

“I just found out Scotty @GeneralHospital was written out I thank u @GeneralHospital fans for decades of supporting me !!”

Some fans hoped this was a late April Fool’s joke and another held out hope that his account was pirated and this wasn’t coming from him.

Since there has been no official announcement, it’s hard to know if he’s really gone, if the show runners will change their mind, or if this is a ploy by him to show the show runners how much we appreciate him.

Wanting more screen time

One of the possible reasons for him being written off is he’s pushed for more storylines involving Scott recently, and the fans were right there with him in demanding more from Scott.

It may not have gone over well with the powers-that-be as they’re known for having their heads stuck in the sand.

The problem facing soap operas anymore is they have to transition to younger talent, but it’s difficult to replace legends like Scott, and some shows, like “The Young and the Restless”, took a ton of backlash over changing the guard.

What makes this truly a head scratcher is if true, it shows they haven’t learned anything from when they fired Ingo Rademacher and Steve Burton.

Life after GH

Both have shown there’s vibrant life outside of “General Hospital” as Steve joined the “Days of Our Lives” cast and Ingo is spending plenty of quality time with his family attending his daughter’s swimming events and she’s wracking up a few awards.

That time is precious, and it may be part of the reason behind Kin leaving the show. He’s stepped away a few times before with his longest stint being five years prior to his return in 2013.

Whatever the reason, the landscape of “General Hospital” is changing, and it may not be in the best interest of fans or the Mouse, but there’s always hope it’ll find a way to stay vibrant.
