Discovery Channel’s “Gold Rush” has made stars of the Yukon-based miners who have spent the show’s 12 seasons digging up a fortune in gold and other precious metals. And after watching the show’s motley cast of men and women work hard at a tough job for years, fans definitely have their favorites among the regulars who populate the show.

While Parker Schnabel, Rick Ness, Tony Beets, and Chris Doumitt have become familiar faces to the thousands who regularly tune in to “Gold Rush,” the show sports a familiar voice as well in the form of an omnipresent narrator who helps fill in background details and piece together the events taking place on-screen in a sensible, chronological order. While the man who provides voice-over work for “Gold Rush” is definitely familiar to the ears, it’s likely that many fans don’t know the name of the person behind the microphone. Do you know who narrates “Gold Rush”?

Paul Christie is a voice actor with a very long resume

Paul Christie has been the narrator for “Gold Rush” since the show debuted in 2010. He has been working as a voice-over artist since 1996, and he’s voiced characters in everything from “Doug” to the Budweiser frog commercial series. He played Stick Stickly across multiple Nickelodeon projects and C.A.R.R. in Adult Swim’s one-season wonder program “Stroker and Hoop.”

That was him as Ram #1 in Disney’s big-screen adventure “Brother Bear,” and he was James Mattis in Showtime’s “Our Cartoon President,” an animated series about the Donald Trump presidency. Christie also has a strong connection to PBS; his first credited job was with its “Square One TV” program, and he narrated its “Nature” docuseries across nine episodes from 2005 to 2016.

With so much experience under his belt, no wonder explaining the intricacies of digging for gold comes naturally to him.
