In an exclusive clip from Farmer Wants A Wife season 2, episode 4, “You Need To Step Up Your Flirting Game” (via FOX), Farmer Nathan sat down with Rachel to chat about the ups and downs they’ve already faced in their relationship. “I woke up feeling a little nervous this morning,” Nathan explained in a voiceover. “Rachel and I have had ups and downs in our connections, so I want to get down to the nitty-gritty.”

In the clip, Nathan took Rachel to a dock that he deems “one of my favorite places” for their serious chat. He cut to the chase, letting Rachel know he’s “definitely one of those people that if [he sees] an issue, [he] sit[s] down to problem solve it right then.” Rachel felt comfortable with the idea, and when Nathan asked her how she was feeling, she didn’t hold back. Rachel explained that though they had commonalities, she was worried about “having the same common interests” and whether or not Nathan “would travel with [her]” considering he’s so grounded.

Nathan shared he was hoping to ask Rachel some difficult questions, like, “Where do you see yourself in five years? Are you ready for kids? Are you ready for marriage?” Despite going in with a plan in mind, Rachel seemed to take over the conversation and, though she was giving him a picture of where her doubts were, it was clear that Nathan didn’t feel he was getting the response he was looking for. Though Rachel and Nathan are a good match for one another, the couple may be headed toward the end of their relationship.

Nathan and Rachel’s connection has been shaky from the beginning of Farmer Wants A Wife season 2. Nathan, who is looking for someone who can adopt his slower-paced, rural lifestyle, is also hoping to find someone who shares his values. While Rachel seems to be a good fit in terms of his more conservative value system, she appears to be interested in a faster-paced lifestyle than he wants to live. With hopes to travel and move around in the future, Rachel may not be the best fit for Nathan in the end.

With Farmer Wants A Wife season 2 continuing to be a surprising series with more depth than initially expected, there’s a lot of speculation over who the farmers will end up with when the season is over. The format of the Jennifer Nettles-hosted Farmer Wants A Wife and the differences in what the farmers are looking for have piqued audience interest, and it’ll be exciting to see what happens in the end. With Farmer Wants A Wife season 2 changing the format of the series, Farmer Nathan and the rest of the cast are in for an interesting time.
