“It’s my last walk down the yellow brick road. It’s been awesome. Thanks everyone,” he said in a video that shows his journey on set from his dressing room to the BLUE BLOODS family dinner scene.
In a heartfelt caption to accompany the video, he shared more about the somber moment.
“I’ve taken this walk thousands of times in 14 years and it was a teary final walk from the BLUE BLOODS dinner scene, last week. More so than I could have ever imagined,” Wahlberg began. “Of course some sad tears — but mostly tears of immense humility.”
The actor also acknowledged fans’ desire for the show to continue on.
“It’s been a wonderful adventure. One that I know so many of us, and so many of you, wish could continue. My desire to carry on, however, is only surpassed by the amount of humility I feel for having been part of this wonderful journey at all. I’m so thankful. None of it came easy, but nothing good ever comes easy — and none of it would ever occur if we don’t allow ourselves to believe that our dreams can become reality. Nor would it happen without the support greatest fans ever, the greatest crew ever, in one of the greatest cities ever and one of the greatest law enforcement departments ever,” he wrote. “Thank you BLUE BLOODS faithful. Til we meet again. ❤️💙”

Fans of the show took the opportunity to express their gratitude in the comments.
“This show represents what America used to be. Faith, family and friends. Despite how busy their lives are they make time to connect for Sunday dinner. Respect earned respect given. Great cast and a great crew that brought us a fantastic show each week. Never a bad episode,” a fan wrote.
“Going to miss this show beyond words,” another user said.
Another person commented, “I honestly don’t know how a show like this didn’t get renewed. My Fridays with my folks won’t ever be the same. Thank you, Donnie. And thank you BLUE BLOODS family.”
Movieguide® previously reported on the ending of the show after 14 seasons:
BLUE BLOODS will be coming to an end with the upcoming 14th season of the popular police drama… The show has ranked in the top 10 in streaming series for both Paramount+ and Pluto TV and has reported strong numbers on Netflix, CBS and in syndication.
“BLUE BLOODS will forever be a beloved part of CBS’s legacy,” said Amy Reisenbach, the president of CBS Entertainment, and David Stapf, president of CBS Studios, in a joint statement. “It ruled Friday nights with unprecedented dominance since its premiere and established itself as a pillar of our winning lineup with an exceptionally devoted fan base.”
Season 14 has been broken up into two parts. The first half concluded its run this spring while the remaining eight will premiere this fall.
“For the past 13 years it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also displayed the importance of family,” star Tom Selleck said in a statement when the show was canceled last November. “Thank you to CBS Studios and CBS Network for their steadfast support and we offer heartfelt gratitude to the fans who gathered with us for dinner every Friday night.”
The show might get a spin-off, though, as Movieguide® previously reported:
Paramount execs are teasing the possibility of a new BLUE BLOODS series.
“In a presentation at Paramount’s annual stockholders meeting on Tuesday, Paramount Global co-CEO Brian Robbins hinted that a new BLUE BLOODS series is in the works following the CBS drama’s announced end later this year,” TV Line reported.
Robbins said, “In TV, new franchise extensions are coming for DEXTER, BILLIONS, and BLUE BLOODS.”
The hit cop drama was canceled last fall, but fans and cast alike aren’t ready for it to end.
