General Hospital’s Steve Burton Reveals How Jason And Anna’s Kiss Affected His Comedy Show

This is no laughing matter.

The Jason and Anna kiss on General Hospital has received mixed reviews from viewers, and now the scene has even affected one actor’s career.

The Kiss In Question

While Jason (Steve Burton) and Anna (Finola Hughes) faced the possibility of death at Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) camp, the pair shared a moment of passion when Jason planted a kiss on her. Whether it was a moment of spontaneity or something that was a long time coming between the two, it wasn’t well-received by viewers.

The kiss has mostly made viewers cringe due to the fact that Jason once dated Robin (ex-Kimberly McCullough), Anna’s daughter. Jason and Anna have since decided their kiss would be a one-time thing, but it seems the damage may have already been done — for the characters and their portrayers.

No Joke

On a recent episode of Daily Drama, hosted by Burton and GH co-star Bradford Anderson, the two delved into the infamous kiss when a viewer asked if they expected all the negative feedback. Burton immediately revealed the way the kiss has affected his comedy show.

“I’m going on the road in October – I did some solo shows and I have to come up with new stuff,” he began. “And one of the jokes was that I stare at everybody,” he said, referring to the way Jason often stares at everyone. “And I say in one of my bits that I’m staring at Anna and she’s staring back at me, and I say in my head, ‘Dude, what are you doing? That’s Robin’s mom.’”

A joke that would have previously garnered laughs from an audience of GH viewers now may get a different reaction. “So, I made the joke about it already, and then it actually happened. And now that’s Robin’s mom,” Burton said.
