‘Big Brother 26’ Episode 14 Recap: Did The Veto Save Tucker, Makensy Or Cedric?

Heading into the 14th episode of “Big Brother 26,” repeat Head of Household Angela Murray had just been surprised by a “Deepfake” version of herself at the nominations ceremony. That’s because Quinn Martin activated his power and not-so-secretly took over her HOH reign, thereby putting up his three desired nominees — Tucker Des Lauriers, Makensy Manbeck and Cedric Hodges — on the block. But with the Power of Veto still on the line, it was anyone’s guess as to who’d actually be going home this week.

Below, read our minute-by-minute “Big Brother” Season 26, Episode 14 recap/live blog to find out what happened Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. Then be sure to sound off in the comments section about your favorite “BB26” houseguests on CBS’s reality TV show, who annoys you the most and who you think will ultimately join the “Big Brother” winners list. Julie Chen Moonves once again hosts the series.

Here are the names of the 13 remaining houseguests: Angela Murray, Brooklyn Rivera, Cam Sullivan-Brown, Cedric Hodges, Chelsie Baham, Joseph Rodriguez, Kimo Apaka, Leah Peters, Makensy Manbeck, Quinn Martin, Rubina Bernabe, T’kor Clottey and Tucker Des Lauriers.

8:00 p.m. – “Previously on ‘Big Brother’!” In the 13th episode, former winners Taylor Hale, Jag Bains and Cody Calafiore returned to the set to talk all things Season 26. Much of their focus was on Angela, who has completely dominated the summer so far by winning two HOHs and being a so-called “bully” toward some of her fellow players. But enough about last night — it’s time to see how the Veto shakes up the game, if at all.

8:04 p.m. – Following the deepfake nomination ceremony, the house was clear on Tucker being Quinn’s main target for the week, but not everyone was on board with his plan. Angela was happy that as the true HOH she’d get to play in the veto comp and have an opportunity to save Tucker from the block. Even though Cedric volunteered to go on the block, the reality of actually being nominated was not as comfortable as it seemed in theory. And then with a handful of wins already under his belt, Tucker was confident that he’d win another to save himself.

8:06 p.m. – Rubina was in her feelings about Tucker’s nomination because they were getting closer as a budding showmance, but she said she wasn’t worried about the risk of being associated with him.

8:09 p.m. – In a Collective meeting that now includes Brooklyn instead of Angela, an agreement was made for them to make the group aware if any of their names get thrown out by someone else so that the eight of them could sail through to the jury together and then work it out from there. Later, Brooklyn suggested to Cedric and Quinn that Quinn suggest to Tucker he’ll put Rubina up in his place if he comes down with the veto in order to get him to not try to win it in order to protect her.

8:16 p.m. – Despite being in The Collective without Tucker, Joseph and him solidified a final two deal that Tucker initiated based on their growing friendship connection in the house. Joseph was happy to make the deal because of how strong Tucker is in competitions, but he wasn’t necessarily ready to “stick his neck out” for him against The Collective.

8:18 p.m. – In the selection ceremony for veto comp players, Angela picked the chips for Tucker and Cedric. Because they were already playing, Tucker and Cedric got to choose someone else compete with them. Tucker chose Joseph and Cedric chose Brooklyn. Quinn was humored by Tucker being “too scared” to choose him to play and instead going for Joseph who Quinn sees as one of the weaker players in comps.

8:23 p.m. – For the veto comp, the six chosen houseguests competed in “Binary Bridge” in order to successfully cross a two lane bridge remembering the correct path to the other side faster than their head-to-head match up. By random draw, the first round match ups were Cedric vs. Brooklyn, Makensy vs. Angela, and Joseph vs. Tucker. In those match ups the winners were Cedric, Makensy and Tucker. Because he finished it quickest, Tucker earned a bye in the next round and advanced to the final round, leaving Makensy and Cedric to compete in the second round.

8:32 p.m. – With the paths re-set to a new code, Makensy and Cedric moved strategically by watching each other in order to obtain the correct path at the other’s mistake. Cedric called Makensy’s bluff so that when she made an incorrect move at the end of the path she had to go back to the start while he was left with a sure path forward to eliminate her.

8:38 p.m. – In the final round, Tucker was excited to follow through on his recent aim of revenge against Cedric for going against his wishes last week while Cedric was interested in securing the win to make sure Tucker stays on the block. The two of them kept pace for most of the round until Tucker had a series of successful guesses to gain a lead on Cedric and get all the way to the end with Cedric four steps behind him. The win meant Tucker became a four-time comp winner with the power to remove one of the nominees from the block.

8:48 p.m. – With the POV in his hands, Tucker immediately began considering “doing something crazy again” like leaving himself on the block so that he could remain on the block to ensure Cedric doesn’t win the AI Arena and goes home on eviction night. When he ran the idea by others, Angela was staunchly against it and strongly advised him to save himself. He insisted that it would be a move for his own game.

8:54 p.m. – At the veto ceremony, Tucker decided to use the veto on himself while promising to Quinn that he will make sure he leaves the game next week. The decision prompted AI Angela to return on the screen to announce Quinn’s deepfake decision to put Rubina on the block in Tucker’s place.
