Blue Bloods will pay tribute to the late actor Treat Williams following his death last year.
The CBS police procedural will say goodbye to the actor in an episode which will air this Friday (March 1, via TVLine).
Williams joined Blue Bloods back in season six, where he starred as Lenny Ross, police commissioner Frank Reagan’s old partner and former NYPD detective.
The Everwood and Chicago Fire actor most recently appeared in the last season of the show marking his sixth guest appearance overall. In the episode ‘Irish Exit’, Lenny told his former partner that he was dying of cancer because of his role as a first responder during the 9/11 attacks.
Titled Fear No Evil, Friday’s episode will honour Williams and his character Lenny as Frank comes to terms with the loss of his best friend while trying to support Lenny’s daughter Tess after she ends up in jail.
Elsewhere in the episode, Jaime and Joe attempt to reunite a victim of trafficking with her sister and Danny and Erin butt heads.
Williams was 71 when he died after being involved in a road traffic accident last year. Following the crash, the actor was taken to hospital and his family later announced his death in a statement.
“As you can imagine, we are shocked and greatly bereaved at this time,” the statement read. “Treat was full of love for his family, for his life and for his craft, and was truly at the top of his game in all of it.
“It is all so shocking right now, but please know that Treat was dearly and deeply loved and respected by his family and everyone who knew him.mWe are beyond devastated and ask that you respect our privacy as we deal with our grief. To all his fans, please know that Treat appreciated all of you and please continue to keep him in your hearts and prayers.”
