CBS’s popular cop drama follows Commissioner Frank Reagan and his family as they tackle crime in New York city.

Blue Bloods’ season 13 finale will bring back a key player who hasn’t featured on the series in over a decade.

Actress Jennifer Esposito is officially back as Jackie Curatola, the former partner of Danny Reagan (played by Donnie Wahlberg).

In the nearly 11 years since her last appearance at the start of season three she has become a Chief of Police, and will return to help Danny track down a cold-blooded killer.

A synopsis for the finale, Forgive Us Our Trespasses, reads: “Danny and Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) team up with Danny’s old partner to find a copycat killer emulating a criminal’s murders from a previous case.

“Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) and Mayor Peter Chase (Dylan Walsh) battle over how best to handle the city’s rising homeless population.”

A new sneak peek released by TV Line has now given fans their first look at Jackie and Danny’s long-awaited reunion on Friday.

In the clip, the old partners sit by the beach to lay the groundwork for their chilling new case.

Jackie explains a couple renting a bungalow in New York was found strangled to death with their bodies posed.

Danny finds the MO familiar, and confirms if a Biblical quote was written at the scene: “Vengeance is mine, thy will repay.”

The NYPD detective tries to convince Jackie to leave the case for him, but his former partner insists on coming along to help track the monster down.

“You’re the best detective I’ve ever worked with,” she tells him. “But this guy’s not the only one who wants a little vengeance.”

“So we’ll work it together,” she adds, to which Danny smiles and says, “I’d love to.”

The clip ends with Danny receiving a phone call from Baez, his current partner, setting up plenty of intriguing drama to come in the last episode of Blue Bloods before the summer.

As Baez was introduced to the series a few episodes after Jackie’s departure in season three, it’s unclear how Danny’s two partners will interact.

Could there be some tension between the detective and her more senior predecessor?

Or could they teach each other a thing or two about working with Commissioner Frank’s hot-headed son?

Meanwhile, Frank will have his hands full with the New York mayor after his constant feuding with Chase throughout the latest season.

The series has also been renewed for a 14th outing hoped to air after the summer, although the ongoing writers’ strike could mean fans are waiting a little longer.

Blue Bloods season 13 concludes Friday, May 19 on CBS in the USA and the following Monday on Sky Witness in the UK.
