CBS viewers took to social media in droves of anger after Jack Boyle made an unexpected return on the latest episode of Blue Bloods.
On Friday, Blue Bloods returned to CBS with another episode of the action-packed generational drama. This week, Erin Reagan’s (played by Bridget Moynahan) ex-husband, Jack Boyle (Peter Herman) was back in town and fans had no interest in his return.
The Reagan family were swept up in different significant cases, and Frank (Tom Selleck) had to re-evaluate his decisions after learning a hero cop shared explicit images online.
Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and his partner Baez (Marisa Ramirez) dealt with racist eyewitness accounts.
While Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) and his wife Eddie Janko (Vanessa Ray) worked together on a case which involved a close friend.
As for Erin, she got back in touch with Jack because she was accused of causing the suicide of a former colleague.
Erin was at Hudson University speaking to a group of students when an audience member stood and served her with a lawsuit.
As the DA hopeful opened the envelope, she learned the sister of Robert Davis (Derrick Williams) accused Erin of being the cause of his suicide.
Erin’s colleague and friend Anthony Abetemarco (Steve Schrippa) invited Jack to join them at the cafe as they could use his advice as a defence attorney.
Although he was there to talk about Erin’s lawsuit, fans were unimpressed to see Jack return to the screens and shared their disappointment on Twitter.
A fuming @RogerSi84725238 tweeted: “Great show tonight in spite of Jack(A**) being on the show.”
@SusanWLinden raged: “Never a pleasure when Jack Boyle shows up and Erin acts like a sex-crazed teenage girl.”
A third viewer asked: “#BlueBloods REALLY?!? You have to bring Jack Boyle back?!?”
Another disappointed fan @islandiva147 shared: “Why is Erin canoodling with her Ex again?”
Despite the backlash, many other viewers were pleased to see Jack return to help Erin despite their complicated history.
@amazingwillnet wrote: “Hope we see more of Jack! #BlueBloods.”
While @adamlaughslife speculated: “I think Erin and Jack are on their way to getting back together.”
The lawsuit revealed Robert worked in Erin’s office as an ADA but he was a secret drunk.
However, six months ago Erin caught him throwing cases for organized crime figures and fired him, and then, he took his own life.
This sparked uproar in the office as ADA Sydney Sloan (Winslow Bright) revealed she was transferring offices because she was shocked Robert killed himself after Erin fired him.
Speaking to his sister, Erin shared that Robert was truly fired because he was involved with a drug cartel, run by the notorious kingpin Manny Vargas (Gustavo Marquez).
