Blue Bloods is one of the most popular police procedurals on television today. The stories behind each season of the show are just so fulfilling that it’s hard for fans to stop watching their beloved show.
Although some fans have actually turned their backs on the show for a very specific reason. The thing is, Blue Bloods had four main characters, the members of the Reagan family, and when the writers killed off one of them, it just felt wrong. For a lot of reasons.
Of course, we’re talking about Linda. She was played by Amy Carlson for seven seasons in a row. But then she was killed off in between seasons. The reason was that Carlson didn’t want to renew her contract and wanted to leave the show after it ended.
But the writers made a bigger deal out of it and decided to start season 8 with her already tragically dead. The strange decision not to show her death has bothered Blue Bloods fans for years.
“They killed her off in a tragic helicopter accident in between seasons. It took a while for them to develop the story line that she was murdered and that it wasn’t an accident. I think they were caught off guard and had to scramble,” Redditor Draano said.
Apparently, the way Linda died also bothered Carlson.
In the interview with Deadline, she mentioned that she was not happy with the way the showrunners killed off her character. And she claimed that if she had the chance, she definitely would have done it another way.
Carlson is sure that it would have made more sense to at least show her to the end and give the fans a chance to grieve, rather than abruptly end her storyline. And it seems like a fair point.
