‘I can’t even begin to explain the guilt and heartache I feel right now.’

Farmer Wants a Wife 2023’s Claire Saunders has just lived through what she’s described as “one of the most horrifying events” of her life to date.

After going through a painful split with Farmer Andrew earlier this year, on September 24 she took to Instagram sharing that she had accidentally run over her beloved pet pug, Moe.

The traumatic events left Moe with a fractured pelvis and small fracture on his spine and in a “serious but stable condition”.

“I can’t even beg in to explain the guilt and heartache I feel right now. Like, why didn’t I check on him?” she wrote.

“My little dog has been the absolute light of my life the last few months. Some days, I wouldn’t have gotten out of bed if it wasn’t for him.”

The horrifying incident comes just weeks after the reality star’s former fiance, Andrew Coleman, broke his silence on the couple’s split.

In shock news he confirmed they had gone their separate ways and said on his Instagram: “life had other plans” for them.

Thankfully for Claire, little Moe is likely to be around to help her through the breakup and the day after the accident she checked back in with followers to share the miraculous news: Moe had made it through the night.

“I am sick to the stomach knowing that I am responsible,” she said. “I feel like an absolute POS.”

She added: “The complications we are facing now is the nerve damage to his bladder, he can’t pee by himself.”

But in more positive news the following slide showed a grumpy-looking Moe with a bandaged paw and the excited caption: “Omg he peeeeeeeed, Just picked him up!”

Saunders also shows her “best brekkie date ever,” with Moe ravenously chomping on pieces of chicken from her fingers, looking very much back to himself.

Claire and Farmer Andrew were firm favourites on the 2023 series and fans were devastated when Claire shared in July 2024 that they had called off their wedding.

“Andrew and I have had to cancel our wedding to due to reasons out of our control, but we are both okay,” she wrote. “I’m not sure what else to say other than, sometimes life is hard and we all just need a little breathing space,” she wrote.

According to Claire’s Instagram, it appears she has returned to Tasmania following their official split.
