Former General Hospital star Johnny Wactor (ex-Brando) recently reached a major milestone in his personal life: It has been 2,190 days since he last had an alcoholic drink or used recreational drugs! We won’t make you do the math: That equates to six years of sobriety, and to mark the achievement, Wactor shared a special message with his followers on social media.
In an Instagram Story on June 25, Wactor shared a selfie presumably taken while on a hike, since there are hills and vegetation in the background. With the use of the text feature on the post, the actor made a heartfelt confession about where he’s been and how far he’s come. “No alcohol or drugs for 6 years today,” Wactor wrote on the slide about his sobriety journey. “Life is better. Life is easier.”
The actor went on to express his thanks for the support he’s received along the way as he made his lifestyle change. “Grateful to all of those that have helped me and helped others,” he added.
During a chat with Maurice Benard (Sonny) on the actor’s State of Mind YouTube show last year, Wactor opened up about the trauma he endured growing up at the hands of his late father, who was an untreated alcoholic. Wactor also confessed that he struggled with drugs and alcohol himself. “I deal with alcoholism and addiction as well,” he admitted, explaining how the state of his mental health differed from that of his late father. “If you are not treating that disease, you’re not a healthy person.”
We are glad to see Wactor healthy and happy as he embraces a “better” and “easier” life! Please join us in congratulating the actor on his sobriety anniversary!
