General Hospital Alum Jonathan Jackson Celebrates His Birthday

Help this beloved GH alum celebrate his special day!

General Hospital’s Lucky Spencer doesn’t exactly have anything to celebrate — what with his sister Lulu being in a medically induced coma for like…forever…and his dad having been murdered — but the same can’t be said for his portrayer, Jonathan Jackson.

Happy Birthday, Jonathan Jackson

That’s because he was born on May 11, 1982, in Orlando, Florida, which means that this talented performer is turning 41 years old today! It was a family trip to Universal Studios Hollywood that inspired Jackson and his older brother Richard Lee to become actors.

Lessons in the craft followed, and soon Jackson was booking commercials. Six months into his new venture, he was offered the part of legacy character Lucky Spencer, the son of General Hospital’s Luke and Laura Spencer.

Jackson made his debut on October 29, 1993, and his initial tenure continued until May 1999. Concurrently with his role on the medical soap, Jackson appeared in the feature films Camp Nowhere and The Deep End of the Ocean, as well as the made-for-TV movies Prisoner of Zenda, Inc and The Legend of the Ruby Silver, and an episode of Boy Meets World.

After he left daytime, Jackson starred in the independent film True Rights, the theatrically-released Tuck Everlasting, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, and Riding the Bullet, as well as the TV movie Trapped in a Purple Haze.

He also had a recurring role in the science fiction program Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. He reprised the Lucky Spencer part between October 2009 and December 2011.

In 2012, Jackson landed a starring role on the ABC (and later CMT) primetime serial Nashville. His work as musician/singer/songwriter Avery Barkley afforded the musically inclined Jackson — who formed and serves as frontman for the band Enation — to show off his talents.
