With the success of Deception Cosmetics, General Hospital’s Lucy Coe finally has everything she’s ever wished for — except Tracy and Blair have their sights set on taking it. But her success in business still deserves celebrating…as does the very special milestone being recognized by her portrayer, Lynn Herring.
Happy Birthday, Lynn Herring
And that’s because she was born on September 22, 1958, in Enid, Oklahoma, which means that this much-beloved performer is turning 65 years old today! Herring made her acting and film debut in the 1979 picture Roller Boogie. One year later, she appeared in her first TV series, Tenspeed and Brown Shoe.
Subsequently, she appeared in episodes of Quincy, M.E., Matt Houston, Cutter to Houston, Tucker’s Witch, Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer, Jessie, Hotel, TJ Hooker, Riptide, Finders of Lost Love, and The Colbys.
In 1986, Lynn Herring was hired to play General Hospital’s Lucy Coe. Though originally a short-term character, Lucy wound up staying on the canvas for over six years. Afterward, Herring briefly joined the cast of Days of our Lives, where she played besotted lawyer Lisanne Gardner.
Herring then returned to GH, where she remained until 1997, at which point she and Lucy were transferred over to a spin-off series titled Port Charles. Herring reigned at PC for the entirety of its six-year run. She briefly reprised the part of Lucy on GH in 2004, followed by a semi-permeant return beginning in 2012.
Herring has been married to fellow daytimer Wayne Northrop (an actor most famous for originating the role of DAYS’ Roman Brady) since May 9, 1981. Together, the couple has welcomed two sons: Hank Wayne (born January 9, 1991) and Grady Lee (born July 20, 1993).
