Nina Reeves was not happy with Sonny.

The General Hospital recap for August 15, 2023, features Nina wanting to know what was really going on with Sonny.

General Hospital Recap Highlights

In this episode, Nina tried to get into Sonny’s penthouse while his Nanny Betty sting operation was going on. Portia visited Curtis in rehab to disappointing results. Gregory put both Brook Lynn and Chase on the spot as Alexis dined with Esme. And finally, Molly and TJ met with potential surrogates. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into the details.

Operation Sting Betty

Betty (Ella Lentini) and Avery (Ava and Grace Scarola) got home from camp and the sting was on. Dex (Evan Hofer) was there to see what Betty was really up to as she rummaged through Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. He also refused to let Nina (Cynthia Watros) in, while Avery refused to nap because she is 9 years old and 9-year-olds don’t nap. At least she put on headphones to watch TV on her tablet so Betty could snoop around. It took a while, but Betty finally found the planted files.

Ava (Maura West) begged Sonny for an update on Betty, and he assured her that he had the situation under control. Ava was still a hot mess, nervous wreck so he told her about the planted computer files he left for Betty to find. However, all Ava cared about was getting Nikolas’s body back. Sonny reminded her they had to find out who Mason (Nathanyael Grey) and Austin’s (Roger Howarth) boss was first.

Nina saved Sonny from Ava’s nerves when she stormed into his office demanding to know what was going on at the penthouse. Sonny refused to tell her so Nina informed him she felt like just another one of his employees now.

Poolside Happenings

Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Gregory (Gregory Harrison) met up at the Metro Court pool to chat for a bit before Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) interrupted them. She and Alexis had a lunch meeting so that Alexis could tell her she was doing a good job. This surprised Esme, so Alexis had to reassure her that she meant it but that Esme had to understand that other people will always remember the horrible things she did. Alexis wanted her to change her image, but that didn’t seem to matter to Esme.

Esme then had some questions for Alexis — namely, does she miss being a lawyer? Alexis had to admit that she indeed does but explained there are similarities between journalism and law. Oddly, Esme seemed interested in all this.

Gregory sat down with Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) as they waited for Chase (Josh Swickard) to join them. The conversation was a bit awkward, especially when Gregory asked BLQ where she went to college, and she had to admit she only had a year at PCU. Gregory was surprised to hear that he was one of the few people who could get under Tracy’s (Jane Elliot) skin.

When Chase showed up, Gregory put them both on the spot and asked if they had talked about their future together. This prompted Brook Lynn to quickly make a run for the ladies’ room. Chase didn’t get why his dad would ask such a thing out of the blue. Gregory had no answer but later struggled to sign the check. Only Alexis noticed from across the pool area, so she confronted him, and Gregory explained he was running out of time and might be unable to hide his ALS any longer.

Molly (Brooke Anne Smith) and TJ (Tajh Bellow) prepared to meet a potential surrogate, but Molly was a nervous wreck. Surrogate candidate Andrea seemed as nervous as Molly and TJ while they talked about the process. Andrea seemed perfect but so did the next candidate. However, the third candidate wasn’t as appealing and only seemed interested in the money. They decided on Andrea.

Portia (Brook Kerr) arrived at Curtis’s (Donnell Turner) rehab facility, but Curtis was not happy to see her there. As they spoke, the subject quickly turned to Trina, and Curtis was glad to hear Trina was happy to see him. Trina’s meeting with Curtis inspired Portia to make her own visit, but Curtis quickly reminded her that his problems with her had run deep. Still, Portia laid her cards on the table and begged Curtis to just start over.

Curtis told her he just couldn’t do it. He had too much to deal with to even think about fixing a broken relationship right now. Even his physical therapist suggested that Portia chill out and give Curtis some space for now.
