Spoilers for General Hospital reveal James Patrick Stuart’s character Valentin Cassadine has always stood by Nina Reeves Corinthos (Cynthia Watros), and this is seen in her most recent visit during a difficult period.
Nina felt she could rely on Valentin after her husband, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), forced her out of their shared penthouse. He was aware of her secret about what she had done behind her husband’s back, after all, and he was undoubtedly waiting for everything to come apart before intervening to pick up the pieces.
Nina Reeves Needs A friend
Now, Nina needs a friend and she’s found one in her ex — who is willing to bankroll her newest business endeavor, which carries much more value than a salary.
Rather, he’s giving her a solid way to retarget Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), holding them accountable in print. But what’s in it for Valentin? Why buy The Invader at an inflated price just to give Nina a sweet gig for her revenge game?
Valentin Cassadine Owes His Ex
It isn’t that Valentin and Nina broke up because they were no longer in love. On the contrary, when the reality about Valentin’s betrayal was revealed, they were prepared to call it quits and remarry.
Although it took Nina a while to accept the fact that he had paid Sasha Gilmore Corbin (Sofia Mattsson) to pose as her long-lost biological daughter, Nina eventually realized he was acting with the greatest of intentions.
Still, she couldn’t forgive him enough to go back in time and make their marriage work. Valentin has long since apologized profusely and gone to hell and back to make amends, but that doesn’t mean he feels like he’s done enough to call it even.
He Never Got Over Losing Nina Reeves
Furthermore, Valentin never really got over losing his ex. He wanted to be the hero in her eyes, and when he couldn’t legitimately track down her daughter, he thought paying someone perfect to pretend to be her would be the next best thing.
Unfortunately for him, Sasha found herself feeling too guilty and Lulu Falconeri (Emme Rylan) found out the truth.
What was supposed to be the happiest time in their lives quickly turned sour, and Valentin knew he would never be with Nina again — until now.
Is a Reboot in Their Future?
Rumor has it Valentin is pulling out all the stops to help Nina now because he wants to earn the spot as the hero in her life once again.
Previously, he wouldn’t have been able to pull it off without also covering her eyes with wool, but now he can.
Given how preoccupied she is with her sadness at losing her most recent marriage, would Nina give him another chance?
Valentin appears to be in this for the long haul and is content to wait until Nina realizes she can move on from Sonny since greater things are in store for her.
