Sonny’s first wife supposedly died in a devastating car explosion that was initially meant for Sonny, and of course, she was newly pregnant at the time. If his child was maltreated and mishandled by Lily’s family, it’s not difficult to imagine him harboring deep-seated resentment towards Sonny for his role in this tragic turn of events, or for not being around for his childhood. Lily’s father hated Sonny and wanted him dead, but things played out as though Lily got the car bomb meant for the then-young mobster. What if that was all a ruse to convince Sonny his wife and child were gone forever when they were actually taken from him?
Michael Corinthos Is The Bad Guy Here
It may seem as though Dex had a grudge against his grandfather, and perhaps he did at first. But now that he’s grown to appreciate Sonny, he wants to continue being in his life. That means Dex cannot leave the mob on a meat hook and Michael’s plan cannot succeed. Dex’s loyalty will start to waver as the plan is carried out, leaving everyone in the dark about his true allegiances. He doesn’t want to punish Sonny; instead, he believes Michael should suffer for harboring ill will against him. Dex doesn’t believe Michael should call him that anymore because he fully intends to block him and defend their father.
