This Drag Race winner has opened up about turning down a spot on Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs the World.
Back in November 2022, fans were treated to the first international spin-off of the popular Canadian-based Drag Race series.
Like the UK vs the World iteration, the show featured nine queens from global editions of the franchise go head to head as they compete to become the second queen of the Mothertucking World.
The cast included Anita Wigl’it, Icesis Couture, Kendall Gender, Ra’Jah O’Hara, Rita Baga, Silky Nutmeg Ganache, Stephanie Prince, Vanity Milan, and Victoria Scone.
While all of the competing queens delivered gagworthy drama, emotional moments and sickening runway ensembles, the season almost featured a slightly different lineup.
During a recent appearance on Maddy Morphisis’ YouTube show, Give It To Me Straight, Drag Race Holland winner Envy Peru revealed that she turned down an offer to star on Canada vs the Word.
“Well, World of Wonder called me, and they said, ‘We have an offer for you,” she said.
“We already said no to them, but [they said] ‘We wanted to check with you in case you would be interested.’”
When asked why she turned down the offer, Envy explained that she wanted her next Drag Race appearance to be on a RuPaul-hosted series.
“I said, ‘Well, if I’m going to go back on Drag Race or whatever season, I want to do it in front of RuPaul, and that’s nothing against Brooke Lynn Hytes. I love Brooke Lynn Heights but I’ve never been in front of RuPaul,” she continued.
“I want to present my drag in front of Mother Ru. Now I understand why they wanted me to be in that season because of Isis Couture. They wanted to have two winners against each other no, no that wasn’t the right moment for me.”
While the beloved queen turned down the inaugural season of Canada vs the World, she did express an interest in starring in another Drag Race spin-off.
“When the time is right, then I would be very interested to go back but I need to feel secure about it,” she concluded.
