In Need: Why Anna Devane Needs Robin At Her General Hospital Bedside

Is it time to recast GH’s sweetheart?

Anna Devane told Valentin that after she was shot on General Hospital, he, Robin, Emma, and little Noah flashed through her mind. You know why Robin, Emma, and little Noah flashed through Anna’s mind? Because they weren’t there.

General Hospital and Anna Devane Need Robin

Now, we didn’t expect Anna’s (Finola Hughes) daughter and grandchildren to be there when Victor (Charles Shaughnessy) decided to teach the thorn in his side a lesson. But we did kind of expect Robin, at least, to be there as her mom’s life hung in the balance.

GH: Extenuating Circumstances

We realize that Kimberly McCullough, who has played Anna and Robert’s (Tristan Rogers) little girl on and off since 1985, is pretty busy these days. She’s moved over to directing, and her credits include One Day at a Time, The Connors, Fantasy Island, and as Co-Executive producer on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Those of us who watched Kimberly grow up in front of our eyes are very happy for her success. But does that mean Anna needs to suffer?

Your General Hospital Place Is Here With Anna Devane

It makes no sense for Robin, who is one-half of one of the best mother/daughter duos on daytime, to be absent at a critical time like this. Yeah, Anna is going to be fine, obviously. But if we’re supposed to pretend we don’t know that, then Robin should be there, too. She is desperately needed in Port Charles.

GH: Plan B
McCullough is a two-time Daytime Emmy winner as Robin. But no one is irreplacable. Laura Wright (Carly) is a recast. Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer) is a recast. Kirsten Storms (Maxie) is a recast. We’ve had several Nikolas Cassadines. Trina was recast with Tabyana Ali. Recasting Robin won’t be easy, but it is possible. And, at this point, it’s kind of vital. Anna needs her daughter. And we need to stop being fed lame excuses for why she isn’t there.
