CBS Studios President David Stapf offers a major filming update for NCIS’ Tony and Ziva spinoff, revealing when the show goes intro production.

CBS Studios President David Stapf offers a filming update for the upcoming NCIS Tony and Ziva spinoff, revealing when production on the show will start. The spinoff was announced in February and will feature the returns of Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo). Instead of airing on CBS like other shows in the NCIS franchise, this spinoff will be exclusively on Paramount+.

Speaking with Deadline, Stapf revealed that NCIS’ Tony and Ziva spinoff is set to begin filming this summer. While the Studio President didn’t reveal when the show would air, he indicated a date would arrive sometime after production is over. Check out what Stapf had to say below:

It’s a good question. We haven’t dealt with [when the Tony and Ziva spinoff will air] yet. We don’t start shooting until summer so I’ll start annoying Amy with that sometime this summer.

What To Expect From Tony & Ziva’s NCIS Spinoff

While not many details have been provided about Tony and Ziva’s new spinoff, the show is confirmed to be taking place in Europe as the couple raise their daughter, Tali. The conflict will revolve around Tony’s new security firm being attacked, something that prompts the story of the spinoff into motion. Unlike most series in the NCIS universe, this show will be focusing on returning characters instead of a new cast in a new location.

Events in Tony and Ziva’s spinoff remain unclear as well, with the show following a serialized format. While other shows in the franchise have events that cross over into their next episodes, it’s possible the duo’s series will involve one overarching case, similar to NCIS: Sydney and Criminal Minds: Evolution. Since the show is premiering on Paramount+, it could also be filmed differently or deal with darker subject matter than the flagship show.

With Ziva possibly appearing in NCIS season 21, the main show could be used to set up the spinoff, drawing existing viewers into the new story. If there are hints about the spinoff in the show’s latest season, then it’s possible Tony and Ziva’s return will happen later this year or in early 2025. However, it seems a definitive release and more information won’t be available until after the series has finished production.
