“I was bartending a wine and beer bar, and someone from ‘The Bachelor’ came in and gave me a card and asked me to be a contestant on it,” Doute said

Kristen Doute says she was almost part of Bachelor nation!

In a recent episode of her Balancing Act podcast with boyfriend Luke Broderick and guest Joe Amabile (also known as “grocery store Joe” on Bachelor in Paradise) the trio talked about being on reality television. Doute, 41, then revealed she and Amabile were almost part of the same franchise.

“When I worked at SUR way before Vanderpump Rules, way before The Valley, before Housewives of Beverly Hills, when we didn’t even have a liquor license, I was bartending a wine and beer bar and someone from The Bachelor came in and gave me a card and asked me to be a contestant on it,” she said.

Although the offer was tempting, Doute explained to Amabile — who she worked with recently on the competition show The GOAT — that she never followed up about joining the show because she was in a new relationship at the time.

“I had just started dating Tom Sandoval and I was like, ‘Oh, I don’t know, this could be forever,’” she said. “I mean I could be on Bachelor nation instead of Bravo!”

The Vanderpump Rules alum would have fit right in, adding that she is a big fan of the Bachelor franchise, having seen “every single season of The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise.”

Reality TV was clearly in Kristen’s future, with her life — and relationship with Sandoval, whose name is well-recognized now for the “Scandoval” affair last year — being on display for over a decade.

“I love watching myself,” she admitted.

Most recently, Doute was on Bravo’s newest hit show The Valley, which garnered rave reviews from fans during its first season. She has been documenting her relationship with Broderick and their journey to having a baby together.

“Watching all of my friends over the past few years get married, have babies, grow their families,” Doute said on the first episode of the series. “I’m the oldest girl in this group. When’s my time?”

In November, Doute revealed that she and Broderick had experienced a miscarriage at six weeks on her podcast Sex, Love, and What Else Matters with Kristen Doute.
“I only feel comfortable talking about this because I know so many friends of mine have gone through this,” she began. “I know so many women have been through this. And it’s really f—ing terrifying because you always think, ‘What’s wrong, what did I do wrong? Could I have done something different?'”

“And my doctor and my friends told me, inside and out, up and down, there’s no cause. They don’t know why,” Doute said.
