What Happened To Cameron On GENERAL HOSPITAL

Soap kids have complicated histories and Cameron Webber on GENERAL HOSPITAL is no exception! But we’re here to clear everything up for you. Cameron was born in May of 2004, and was originally played by Ashwyn Bagga for a year before being aged and portrayed by Braeden Walkes from 2006-12. In 2013, Michael Leone took over the role, although he was temporarily replaced by Anthony Saliba for a few episodes in June and August of 2013. Cameron was aged into a teen in 2018 with the character being played by Cade McWatt for only a couple of episodes before GH recast him with William Lipton, who continues to play the role to this day.

Zander Smith is Cameron’s father, but due to his dangerous lifestyle, he agreed to let Elizabeth Webber raise his child with Ric Lansing. But she divorced Ric and then Zander died in a shootout with the police. Liz left town to give birth and returned with baby Cameron, named after Zander’s father, Cameron Lewis. She reconciled with Lucky Spencer, so he became the father figure in Cameron’s life. Even as Liz and Lucky’s marriage had its ups and downs, he remained a part of Cameron’s life.

In 2008, Cameron was playing with matches and set the house on fire, and Liz was able to rescue his little brother, Jake, before the whole place burned down. A couple of years later, Cam’s youngest brother, Aiden, was born. In 2011, Jake was believed to have been killed in a hit-and-run, and Cameron had a hard time dealing with the loss of his brother. He also blamed his mother for Lucky breaking up with her and leaving town.

As Cameron got older, he became interested in girls, specifically Emma Scorpio-Drake. But his cousin, Spencer Cassadine, also had a crush on Emma, and schemed to come between them. Eventually, Cameron and Emma “broke up” and he started “dating” Josslyn Jacks for a while. At Spencer’s birthday party at Wyndemere, Cam accidentally started a fire that seriously injured his cousin. He also had a little trouble adjusting to the idea that his brother, Jake, hadn’t really died, especially when Jake began acting kind of strangely.

He and Spencer continued to clash, having a massive food fight at the coffee shop with Hayden that their grandmother, Laura had to stop. The last we saw of young Cam was back when he was all dressed up for Liz and Franco Baldwin’s wedding that didn’t happen, because when he appeared next, he was looking a bit older as he made an attempt to get back together with Josslyn.

But Joss was dating Oscar Nero, and her boyfriend wasn’t happy to learn that Cam had stolen a kiss from his girl. The two boys had a fight, but quickly made up and Cameron agreed to back off. However, things got complicated when Cameron eavesdropped on his mother and Franco and realized that Oscar had cancer. Worse, Cam was the one who ended up spilling the secret to Oscar, believing the teen already knew and was just keeping it from Joss. Oops!

Although Cam was slow to accept Franco as his new stepfather, he proved to be a loyal big brother to Aiden when he was on the receiving end of some nasty bullying. And as Oscar faced the reality that he was going to die, Cam was there at his friend’s side until the very end. He even helped him record a final message to Joss to be played after his death.

Cameron came around on Franco by the time the guy married his mom and even performed at their reception with his siblings. And when Cameron was abducted by Shiloh in the hopes of implanting Drew’s stolen memories into the teen, Franco came to his rescue and took his place in the twisted experiment! When Franco had no memories other than Drew’s from 2012, he attempted to live as Drew, but eventually, his loved ones convinced him to undergo a procedure to bring Franco’s memories back.

Cameron found himself abducted again, this time on the way to a school dance with Trina Robinson, as Cyrus Renault’s vendetta against her mother took a dangerous turn. Thankfully, the teens were rescued, though at the cost of her father, Taggert’s, life. And while Cameron had been crushing on Josslyn again now that she was single, the shared trauma of the kidnapping led him and Trina to bond and share a kiss that complicated things!

Although Dev Cersi had developed his own crush on Josslyn, Cam, Dev, Trina, and Joss all went to prom together as friends. But Cameron had a close moment with Josslyn that led to a kiss that Dev saw! Torn between the two girls, Cam realized he needed to figure out what to do before he hurt someone. Unfortunately, while he was talking with Dev at the Floating Rib, a bomb went off! Cameron survived but Dev was killed.

Cameron then found himself torn between going to college and staying at home to support his family as Franco underwent treatment for his brain tumor. In a show of solidarity, Cam asked Joss and Trina to shave his head but then Franco was murdered and the teen spiraled out of control. Believing that Jason Morgan killed him, Cam was desperate to bring him to justice. And when he happened upon a shootout as Jason was escaping from the hospital, he grabbed one of the guns from a fallen thug and shot Jason as he tried to run!

Cameron was arrested but released when evidence showed Jason was shot by someone else, and he and everyone else finally learned that Franco had been killed by Peter August. Cameron decided to attend Port Charles University with his friends and during the graduation party, kissed Josslyn and the two finally admitted their feelings. They were surprised to learn that Trina’s new friend, “Victor,” was really Spencer back in town. Cameron joined Joss and Trina in setting a trap for Ava’s stalkers to prove it was Spencer and his girlfriend, Esme Prince, but when Spencer confessed, he kept Esme’s name out of it.

Esme tried to make nice with the gang, but no one was having it and they were annoyed when Spencer brought her along on their weekend ski vacation. After a drinking game turned sour, Cam and Joss retreated to a bedroom where they had sex for the first time. What they didn’t know was that Esme had set up a camera to record it and later leaked it online! Worse, she framed Trina for the crime and Spencer seemed to believe it! Cameron was relieved when Spencer later secretly confessed he believed Trina but was pretending to take Esme’s side while waiting for her to slip up so he could prove her guilt. But his frustration over keeping the secret led to an argument between Cam and Spencer that erupted into a fistfight and led to them both being arrested! In the end, Spencer testified at Trina’s trial to give her an alibi, and Josslyn was upset with Cameron for keeping the secret from her.

Cameron also struggled when it was revealed that Liz was haunting herself with memories of Franco while sleepwalking and she insisted on leaving her family for treatment. Although he was relieved when his mother came home, she was still clearly not better and he supported her when she went looking for answers. He also had a run-in with an escaped Heather Webber who showed up at Kelly’s looking for a BLT. Cam managed to secretly call the police so Dante could come and take her back into custody.

Cameron was heartbroken when Josslyn broke up with him but it was even worse when he went to her dorm to talk to her and found her with Dex Heller! He lashed out at Joss for lying to him about the reason for their breakup but then reluctantly agreed to her request to keep her new romance a secret for fear of what Sonny might do if he found out Dex was dating her. Cam was also forgiving when his mother confessed to helping Nikolas keep Esme prisoner in Wyndemere. But things started looking up when he informed his mom he had gotten an athletic scholarship to Stanford!
