Things are getting spicy over on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 9. This week, Ru decided to let chaos enter the chat by combining the standard makeover challenge with the girl group challenge, forcing the queens to doll up firefighters and perform a new track called “P-ssy on Fire.” The queens were paired up and after a speed dating round with the firemen, were joined by their thirds. Then came choreography, tucking tutorials and one man shaving off his eyebrows. There was a LOT going on.
Four weeks in, the eight competing queens are one step closer to being inducted into the Drag Race Hall of Fame and earning $200,000. This isn’t the first “first” on Season 9, however. Unlike every previous season of the show, this time the queens are not competing for themselves. They’re competing for a cause. Each of our eight girls have selected a charity and all of their winnings will go to support that good philanthropic work. Also, as with All Stars 7, no one will be going home this season. Instead, each week the top two queens will earn Benefactress Badges, with the three queens who have the most badges competing against each other in the finale for that crown (and cash).
Each week the top two queens will also lip sync in order to win a cash tip for their charity AND the ability to “cut off” one of the bottom six queens. That queen will then be ineligible to earn a Badge the following episode even if they win.
Here’s everything that went down in Episode 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 9:
Who won Episode 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 9?
Roxxxy Andrews & Vanessa Vanjie Mateo
For the first time in All Stars 9, we have a tie! Roxxxy and Miss Vanjie were paired together for the girl group/makeover challenge and thanks to Vanjie’s choreo and Roxxxy’s sewing, the trio served drag family resemblance stronger than the others. The pair then lip synced against one another to “Black Cat” by Janet Jackson, with Ru opting to give them both the win and let them split the cash prize for the week.
Who won Benefactress Badges on Episode 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 9?
Roxxxy Andrews & Vanessa Vanjie Mateo
Since Roxxxy and Vanjie won the challenge this week, they both earned Benefactress Badges. However, they each actually earned TWO badges this week, slingshotting them to the top of the leaderboard. In Episode 3, Nina West and Gottmik were each awarded the ability to give a Benefactress Badge to another queen. Nina gave hers to Roxxxy, who assisted her in the sewing challenge, while Gottmik gave hers to bestie Vanjie, neither of whom had badges at the time. The double badge gain, however, certainly changes the leaderboard DRASTICALLY.
Who got cut off in Episode 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 9?
Angeria Paris VanMichaels
Back in Episode 1, Angeria won and cut off Roxxxy Andrews assuming she’d be a big threat in the competition. Roxxxy vowed to cut off Angeria when given the chance and those chickens came home to roost this week. Roxxxy and Vanjie could have easily chosen to cut off Gottmik, the frontrunner, but due to Vanjie’s friendship with Gottmik and Roxxxy’s vendetta, they cut off Angeria. TBD if this move comes back to bite them.
